Subaru Impreza Tuning

There’s little doubt a good performance exhaust will increase power, and previous Redline tests have proven that turbo cars respond especially well to a large bore exhaust system. But with the huge range of tuned cars these days, variations between versions of the same model, and highly tuned cars needing completely different exhaust styles, it’s not always easy to find an off the shelf system that fits your car perfectly. The only solution is either an exhaust that may not fit properly (or be ideal for your application), or to get an exhaust custom made. The best situation of course is a custom made system, but generally you’re stuck with either paying many thousands of pounds, or buying a cheaper system with a maximum 2.5in bore which is simply not big enough for many tuned turbocharged cars. Thankfully custom exhaust specialists Longlife have developed a machine that can bend 3in pipework quickly and cheaply, meaning you can finally get custom made 3in systems from Longlife dealers that fit your car perfectly. And all this for a price comparable to, or less than, an off-the-shelf system. There is a catch though, the process leaves an unusual looking ‘crinkle’ on the inside of the bends, and although you may think this would impede flow, the vast majority of the exhaust gasses pass along the outside of a bend, meaning these crinkles shouldn’t give a big restriction.
